Cornelius live show and Game Boy Advance game music

Cornelius is a band I've wanted to see for some time now. I missed his show at El Corazon about half a year ago. Apparently, the show was very empty. Very bummed I missed that.

Cornelius also made the music for the Game Boy Advance game "Coloris". Coloris is part of the Bit Generations line of games. I think I'm going to import it now.

Simo Häyhä "was a Finnish soldier, and is widely considered to be the most successful sniper in history"

"The White Death"

During the Winter War (1939 – 1940) between Finland and the Soviet Union, he began his duty as a sniper against the Red Army. Working in temperatures between −20 to −40 degrees Celsius(-4 to -40 degrees Fahrenheit), and dressed completely in a white camouflage suit, Häyhä was credited with 505 confirmed kills against Soviet soldiers.
The unofficial Finnish frontline figure from the battlefield of Kollaa places the number of Häyhä's sniper kills at 542.

Besides his sniper kills, Simo Häyhä was also credited with as many as two hundred kills with a Suomi M-31 SMG submachine gun, thus bringing his credited kills to at least 705.

On March 6, 1940, Häyhä was shot in the jaw during close combat. The bullet tumbled upon impact and left his head. He was picked up by fellow soldiers who said "half his head was missing". He regained consciousness on March 13, the day peace was declared. Shortly after the war, Häyhä was promoted straight from corporal to second lieutenant by Field Marshal Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim. No one else has ever gained rank in such a dramatic fashion in Finland's military history.

It took several years for Häyhä to recuperate from his injury. The exploding Soviet bullet had crushed his jaw and blown off his left cheek. Nonetheless, he made a full recovery and became a successful moose hunter and dog breeder after World War II.

So tough. He lived until 2002 at the age of 97.

Yesterday at around 5:40pm. Trevor and I arrived at the Mac Store in U-District to pick up our Leopard family pack. When we got there the line wasn't too long, but when they opened at 6:00pm, there was quite a long line full of people talking on their iPhones. Inside, there was sodas and snacks for everyone! And when we bought Leopard, they gave us two free stuffed Leopards! Trevor took an extra one so we got three.

I installed it last night and my impression is that it's awesome.

Ever since Super Mario 64 I've been waiting for the next true Mario game. I've easily put more time into Super Mario 64 any other game I've ever played. While I thoroughly enjoyed Super Mario Sunshine and New Super Mario Bros, they just couldn't capture the charm and the depth of Super Mario 64.

Today I got to play Super Mario Galaxy, the game I've been waiting for, for about 45 minutes. Not only is it totally beautiful, but the perfect controls from Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine are back, to make this some of the best 45 minutes I've ever spent with a video game. Everything moves at such a smooth pace. It feels like you're always doing something really cool.

It just had that classic Mario feel.

And gahhhhhhdsADFHJGSK. Just so good. I wish I could have it now, but I have to wait until the 12th or 13th of November.

House IJburg

Architecture from the netherlands

The house is located on a very small plot in IJburg; a recently developed suburb of the city of Amsterdam. The house is designed as a monolythical sculptural mass, expressed by contrasting introverted private spaces (that form the mass) with open collective spaces that seem to have been ‘carved out’ from the solid volume as a continous transparent void, visually and physically connecting them to the street, the garden and roof terrace. This strategy seems to give the house a monumental and sculptural quality that articulates a sense of stability, simplicity and permanence.

Metal Gear Solid 4 intro is going to kill me

Metal Gear intros are always amazing, but this one sounds extra special.

we're working with a studio who is producing the opening movie for the game. We're doing it with a very untraditional studio here in LA. I think that the opening movie and the ending of the game are going to be the two talks of the town. The opening movie is something that has never been attempted, and will never be attempted again. It's something that could only come out of Hideo's mind.

For now, Metal Gear Solid 2 is my favorite intro.

well known for his theater designs and his handsome and collectable cocktail shakers, cook stoves, radios, Deco window displays, butcher scales, &c. ....But my favorites are the great visionary projects - the teardrop double decker bus, the tear drop car, the streamlined railroad train, , the factory for Toledo Scale Co, the restaurants, one on a tower, one in a dam, the streamlined ship the floating dance palace, the model of the city of the future in the GM exhibit of the 1940 New York World's Fair. a number of swoopy theaters, the floating airport at the tip of Manhattan. When I was a child I found a copy of his wonderful book, Horizons, in my parents library. I would stare at this great stuff for hours. It is still one of my favorite possessions.

Looks like it's not all blunts and da mysteries of chessboxing in the world of Wu. There's been a little bit of infighting going down in the Clan following Ghostface's recent announcement of a new solo disc, set to drop the very same day as 8 Diagrams, the Wu's long-delayed return to wax.

According to MTV.com, Ghost is upset that the Wu pushed back 8 Diagrams' release to December 4, the same date as his just-announced Big Dough Rehab LP. "I had December 4 for the longest," Ghost says, "but the Wu album, brothers were kinda late on doing whatever they were doing and pushed it back..." (Hasn't he seen Rock the Bells? Late's about the best one can hope for from the Wu.)

"...I'm not [mad at] all the members. It's not based on the members, but the hierarchy at Wu-Tang Clan is on some bullsh--. They trying to f--- around and make me push my album back and doing all this. But n---as ain't f---ing around or give us money when we did them Wu-Tang tours. The first one, they paid us after a while, but this last one, n---as is holding onto a lot of money. And [they're] upset based on that. It's a battle right now."

Well, speaking as a dude who'll buy the hell out of both those albums no matter which day they come out, all the Wu is doing is saving me a trip. Can't the rising tide lift all boats?

Nonetheless, it gets deeper than that for Ghost, as he explained to MTV: "The Big Dough Rehab is my album. 8 Diagrams is their album. But it ain't got nothing to do with the regular members. 'Cause I love Raekwon, Masta Killa, U-God, Genius, all them. But it's on right now." Ghost went on to mention that Big Dough would already have dropped had he not joined the Wu on this summer's Rock the Bells tour, and that Loud Records' Steve Rifkind made an effort to stop Big Dough Rehab from hitting stores. (Rifkind did not respond to MTV's questions.)

As for 8 Diagrams, Ghost continues to emphasize his minimal participation in the disc. "I got on some of them [tracks]," he said. "A few of them.... n---as better pay my f----ing money. Matter of fact, they can keep the money-- just get me out of their life right now. They can keep that money, it's all good now. I don't even wanna talk about it no more." Shit!

Ghost's love for the way of the Wu may be waning, but he does throw his W up on Big Dough, which sports guest sports from (at least) Raekwon and Method Man. MTV reports that Ghost is looking to leak the Sean C.-produced, Kid Capri-featuring first single "Celebrate" soon.

December 4 will also see yet another Ghostface product hit shelves as well: The World According to Pretty Toney, a book based on those MTV2 hilarious/helpful nuggets of wisdom from the Ironman himself.

The Wu's recently announced, fast approaching tour (with its long string of dates and cities sans venues) was apparently wishful thinking, as it's not happening. Ghost-- looking, comparatively, like a real mover and shaker these days-- has a few more dates on the Adult Swim trek before heading out with fellow microphone fiends Rakim and Brother Ali.

Hahahahahaha.
